Retirement isn’t the goal. It’s not some finish line we crawl toward at 65. It’s about slowly building a life with more freedom, more control, and fewer “maybes.” You don’t need millions. You need margin.
If this is your philosophy, I think you'd love the book that Derek Coburn just put out!
Or maybe it's about contribution, and after a certain age, one needs more time for self/family care in order to contribute effectively, and there are more things to contribute to than an employer.
Couldn't agree more. Financial freedom isn't about a magic number, it's about creating a life that aligns with your values and passions. The real goal is to design a lifestyle that brings joy and fulfillment every day, not just in our golden years. Flexibility is worth way more than millions! Time with your children growing up is time you will never get back = priceless!
Beautifully said. Retirement isn’t about escape — it’s about intention. Freedom comes from designing a life with purpose, not just piling up money. Margin = space to choose, create, and breathe.
This is it. Retirement isn’t the escape plan - it’s the design plan. Little by little, more freedom, more choice, less hustle for the sake of it. We don’t need millions, we need margin. Wil Schroter thank you for this reminder ????.
Well said Wil
